Community Standards

The Kinkonauts are committed to providing a physically and psychologically safe environment free of discrimination, harassment, and abuse, where all individuals are treated with respect and dignity, feel empowered to advocate for themselves and others and have equal access to support and opportunities.

The Kinkonauts believe that everyone has a right to feel safe and included in our community, regardless of their identity. The Kinkonauts does not tolerate discrimination against an individual or group based on but not limited to the grounds of: age, ancestry, colour, family status, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, mental health, physical ability, place of origin, race, religious belief or nonbelief, sexual orientation or economic situation. Disrespectful and/or discriminatory behaviour is defined as any comment demeaning the dignity of a person or group, or ridiculing a person or group based on characteristics that are related to a ground of discrimination.

Harassment happens when someone is subjected to unwelcome verbal or physical conduct due to their race, religion, colour, origin, gender, disability, ancestry, marital status, family status, income source, or sexual orientation. Alberta human rights laws prohibit such harassment. Sexual and gender-based harassment is defined as any comment, conduct, gesture, or contact of a sexual or gender-based nature that is unwelcome and that is likely to cause offence, embarrassment, or humiliation to an individual or group.

The Kinkonauts do not tolerate harassment of any kind including:

● Verbal or physical abuse

● Threats or intimidation

● Hostile or derogatory remarks

● Innuendo or taunts about someone’s appearance, beliefs, origin, disabilities, ancestry, marital or family status, income, sexual orientation, or gender

● Display of pornographic, racist, or offensive signs or images

● Unwelcome physical contact

● Unwelcomed propositions

If we see any such behaviour, we will intervene. Any abusive or discriminatory behaviour may be grounds for removal from a Kinkonauts event and multiple instances of such behaviour may result in a seasonal or permanent ban from all Kinkonauts events.
