Instructor (Class 1): Devin Kotani
Devin Kotani (he/him) holds a BFA in drama with a focus in acting from the University of Calgary, and has been practicing and performing improv for over 10 years. Joining the Kinkonauts at the end of 2021 for the abridged 2022 season, Devin has performed with such groups as KFP, Wuthering Frights, Improvised Romeo and Juliet, Starfleet Confidential, and To Be or Not To Be Determined: Improvised Shakespeare. He has also served as an instructor for the Calgary Improv School and the Accelerator drop-in class, and is currently the Director of the Calgary Improv School. Devin is currently pursuing a BA in psychology at the University of Calgary, and is very interested in exploring the ways psychology and live performance interact.
Instructor (Class 2): Aurora Moss
Aurora (she/her) is a performer, actor and avid improviser with over 10 years of experience performing and creating improv. She has called The Kinkonauts her improv home for these past 10 years and has a special interest in long form improv that focuses on character relationships and grounded, emotional scene work. She has directed, devised, and performed in too many improv shows to count over the years, but a few special highlights for her are:
Heartstrings: An Improvised Theatrical Experience Exploring Queer Love and Relationships / Two Girls Improv / Directed by Owen Chan
Wuthering Frights: An Improvised Gothic Novel / The Kinkonauts / Directed by Andy Stefanato
Beauty Love Truth / The Kinkonauts / Directed by Rob Janowski
26 Hour Improv Marathon / The Kinkonauts / Various Shows Devised by Various Peoples
Aurora's main focus as a teacher is to push her students beyond their self limiting beliefs, get them to follow the fear, and to learn that failure is the only way forward.
Right now Aurora can be found teaching through the Calgary Improv School, and performing with her improv duo "Two Girls Improv". "Two Girls Improv" can be found performing in Calgary throughout the year and on Instagram @twogirlsimprov.
